Leanne Crist

Industry veteran: With rates rising, potential homebuyers should consider getting off the fence

DANVERS, MA – October 25, 2018 – Mortgage Network Inc., one of the largest independent mortgage lenders in the eastern U.S., announced that Leanne Crist has joined the company as a loan officer in its Newport News, Virginia branch. Crist will help area residents reach their home buying or refinancing goals.

Crist (NMLS# 453197) serves clients throughout Virginia and specializes in the Hampton Roads area. She has 21 years of mortgage experience serving homeowners across the country, most recently as a mortgage loan officer at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. A Newport News resident since 1985, Crist graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

“We are thrilled to have Leanne join our team,” said Rhonda D'Bene, manager of Mortgage Network’s Newport News branch. “She’s a community advocate with many years of mortgage experience serving the Peninsula area.”

Crist describes the local real estate market as competitive, but with a slight decline in activity compared to a year ago. “Interest rates are slightly higher and home prices have increased about three percent,” says Crist. “Those factors, combined with low housing inventory and rates slowly rising, should prompt potential homebuyers to take action. If you are thinking about buying a home, now is a good time to get off the fence and speak to a well-trusted, qualified mortgage professional about your finance options. There are many mortgage programs currently available to meet the needs of all types of buyers.”

Crist adds, “Homeowners who are thinking about a remodel or getting cash out of their home for other purposes should also consider doing so now before rates go up.”

Crist is active in the Hampton Roads community and has served on the boards of the Peninsula SPCA and the Kevin Eadie Foundation, which supports research to cure Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC) disease. She is a scout leader and regularly volunteers for Hampton Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions (H.E.L.P.), a Nights Welcome program, as well as So All May Eat (S.A.M.E.).
