Real Stories from Our Veteran Borrowers
At Mortgage Network, we take great honor in assisting active duty and veteran service members in using the benefits they have earned to buy a home.
Here is a great story from one of our Veteran borrowers who worked with Linda Murray in our Portland Maine office.
“In late 2016, I was introduced to Linda Murray through a real-estate agent as someone who could help me get a VA loan. Linda asked me about my story, my time in the service and was genuinely interested in me and where I wanted to be. After running my credit, Linda gave me the bad news- I wasn’t qualified but she assured me that ‘we will get you to where you need to be.’ She gave me a plan of what I needed to do to improve my credit score, broke everything down into small, achievable tasks for me and stayed in contact with me monthly.
In December of 2018, I contacted Linda again and had my credit pulled. This time she told me it was still not strong, but she knew I had a chance and we should move forward with a pre-approval before we actually looked for a house. Even though underwriters asked for a lot of documentation, Linda stayed with me step by step and explained why certain things were being requested. She stuck with me for over 2 years! During this time, my wife and I had our first child and on March 27th, 2019, I was able to buy my little family our first home. Before meeting Linda, I had talked with other companies who were not interested at all because of my credit score. Linda never made me feel ‘not good enough’ due to my credit and assured me that ‘life happens & everyone has a story.’
Since purchasing my house, she has checked in to see how things are going and to help continue to build my credit. Less than a year later, I am now refinancing and am going to save over $160 a month. I can’t express how much gratitude I have for Linda and what she has done for me. She was there to help me when the other companies wouldn’t even return a call. Through this, I have gained a house for my family and a great friend.”
